Privacy policy

PaveTrail is run by Jens Desmet. This policy explains what happens with your information when you use the PaveTrail app and this website. The short version: we don't ask who you are, we don't track you and we don't sell anything about you.

The app

No account, no personal data

You don't need an account to use PaveTrail. The app doesn't ask for your name, email address or any other personal information.

Your location stays on your phone

If you switch on Locate me, the app uses your location to show where you are on the map, to point you to the next stop and to notice when you arrive. Your location is only used on your iPhone while the app is open. It's never sent to us or to anyone else, and it's never stored.

Progress and settings

Which stops you've visited, where you left off and your settings are saved on your iPhone only. Deleting the app deletes them.

Purchases

Walks are bought through Apple's App Store, and Apple handles all payments. We never see your payment details. To check which walks you own, the app uses RevenueCat, a service that receives an anonymous app user ID and your App Store purchase history, but no name or email address. Reading aloud

Listen uses your iPhone's built-in voices. The text is turned into speech on your phone and isn't sent anywhere.

Ticket links

Some stops have links to buy tickets from partners such as Tiqets. These links open the partner's website, which has its own privacy policy. We may earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We don't receive any information about you from these partners.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect them against attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message by email. We use them only to reply to you, and delete them when they're no longer needed. The form is protected against spam by Cloudflare.

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data in the app, there is usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete. If you've sent us a message, you can ask us to see or delete it at any time. You can also file a complaint with your data protection authority.

Children

PaveTrail is suitable for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
